Those cute little doggy paws can be a nightmare to clip if your pup isn’t used to having them handled, but we still love them! Shaving between the pads prevents debris from accumulating, which could irritate your canine.
There are five parts to a dog’s paw – the claws, the digital pads, the metacarpal pad, the dewclaw, and the carpal pad – and unlike us hoomans, pooches take the majority of weight on their toes. So, be careful if the weather heats up, as the pavement can get blisteringly hot for sensitive feeties!
You may have noticed a ‘popcorn’ smell if you get close enough; this is because dogs have sweat glands on their paws, which help cool them down and stop the pads from drying out. However, if your pup licks or chews those feet excessively, this may be worth investigating as it could be an indicator of stress. ❤
